Eddie Beckford, a Christian Vietnam veteran from New York City and his wife, Lura, a Jewish woman who has lived in Israel for many years, run a Chess Club, 'The King's Men', for the Russian holocaust survivors in Arad, southern Israel.The centre is also used to serve the Bedouin, Ethiopian Jews and other needy people in Arad - supplying free bibles, books and clothing - and is the only visible Messianic, or Christian, building in the town.
