Inherited Views Of God Part 3

from The Kingdom Mandate Podcast · host Apostle Jason T. Bardwell

In this episode of The Kingdom Mandate Podcast, Apostle Jason T. Bardwell examines the invisible lenses that influence how believers read Scripture and understand the character of God. Although Christians may approach the same Bible with sincere hearts, they do not always approach it without assumptions. Family history, religious tradition, personal experiences, disappointments, cultural influences, and long-held expectations can quietly shape the way the Word of God is interpreted.Using the teachings of Jesus, the road to Emmaus, the Pharisees, Hebrews 4:12, and other biblical foundations, this episode exposes how inherited interpretations can become so familiar that they are mistaken for truth itself. The problem is not the authority or clarity of Scripture, but the possibility that our understanding has been filtered through conclusions we formed long before we learned to rightly divide the Word. Some believers emphasize judgment while overlooking mercy, while others emphasize love while neglecting holiness, repentance, and divine government. In either case, an incomplete lens can produce an incomplete understanding of the Father. This teaching calls believers beyond simply asking Scripture to confirm what they already believe. Instead, we must approach the Word with enough humility to allow the Holy Spirit to confront our assumptions, expose our theological blind spots, and correct interpretations that have been shaped more by inheritance than revelation. Spiritual maturity is not demonstrated by becoming increasingly resistant to correction, but by remaining teachable enough for God to continually refine the way we see Him.Inherited Views Of God challenges every believer to consider whether they are reading Scripture to defend established conclusions or genuinely allowing Scripture to form those conclusions. The Father lovingly corrects our understanding because He desires to be known accurately. As inherited lenses are removed, believers are able to see His holiness, mercy, authority, compassion, faithfulness, and government with greater clarity, leading to deeper worship, stronger obedience, and a more faithful representation of Jesus Christ.
