If you have topic ideas for our podcast or want to reach Michelle, send us a text! We'd love to hear from you! Below are four lies we buy into, forming mindsets which keep us “stuck” and unable to move forward into our greatness: LIES WE BELIEVE ABOUT OURSELVES:Perhaps, you have bought into a lie you were told or believed about yourself from someone you looked up to. If we are truly honest about it and are willing to work at altering our perceptions through cognitive transformation methods, we may discover that the lies we have accepted as truth for so long can no longer control us.“Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality.” ― Les BrownWALLS WE BUILD AROUND OURSELVES:Hurts, disappointments and rejection are all very real and very painful. Unknowingly, we build up walls around ourselves to prevent these things from ever happening again. To some degree, we could justify it as being wise or cautious. But, for many, the incident is over-inflated from rehearsing it to the point that it has completely shut us down to an unhealthy degree. Ultimately, we have built up a strong neural network that is affecting us in all of our relationships. Through a commitment of brain training, over time, we can restore our mindsets, raising our emotional and social intelligence.INNER VOWS:When we encounter situations, events or circumstances where we find ourselves backed against the wall or strongly opposed to whatever is happening, we can unknowingly create “Inner Vows”. I knew someone who made an inner vow concerning soda pop. He grew up restricted from drinking any soda pop by his parents. The day he moved out as an adult, he filled his closet with soda pop and became almost “pushy” about offering it to any guest who visited his apartment. Additionally, he drank it with every meal despite its unhealthy consequences. There are many other examples I could use but I hope this one helps you to see where you may have made your own “inner vows”.FEAR OF FAILURE:Inevitably, all of us will fail throughout our lives. This is not a news flash for any of us. However, there are times when a failure can trap us, destroying our potential and discouraging us from pushing through into success. In fact, when a failure is perceived wrongly, it ends up acting more like a rejection causing us to rehearse it over and over. Instead of being the foundation for growth and learning, we ultimately allow it to become a stumbling block that trips us up and damages us for life. No matter how big the failure, when we determine in our minds that we are unable or ill-equipped, we sell ourselves short and stunt our opportunity for advancement in life and career. Despite your setbacks, you have what it takes for GREATNESS! You CAN create a new you, a new destiny and open the doors to new opportunities. Give yourself permission to forgive anything in your past that may have created success inhibiting, mind blocks. Decide to let the past be the past. You must do this in order to achieve a fixed and solid focus on your future. Only then can you establish a mindset that will make your affirmations more powerful and create cognitive consonance. You will experience a clear, peaceful and stable state of mind which will propel you into amazing reSupport the showMichelle L Steffes is a Certified Speaker, Corporate Trainer, Executive Coach and Author of two books: "Reframe & Rewire" (also available on Audible) and "The Machine Inside Me."
