The Open Run With Will Strickland Episode 79 – Innocence Or Ignorance At what point in Life are we imbued with the ability to discern Right from Wrong? How do we govern ourselves when we engage in potentially destructive behaviours… and how do we redeem? This week, Wall $t. engages a very special guest, old friend and superhero, 1968 Olympic Bronze Medalist in the 200 metre sprint, The World’s Fastest Humanitarian, Dr. John W. Carlos, who bless us with his journey toward immortality with a simple foundation: family. From growing up on a country where Black athletes like Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Bobby Mitchell, Arthur Ashe and The Artist Then Known As Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. utilized their platforms in efforts to amplify the voices of many toward change to one where people like Medgar Evers, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X were assassinated for doing so, John Carlos was in the arena and down for The Cause and not just because. Somehow, along the way, the Gerber Baby, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Omar Isiah Betts, Doughboy, the Canadian Basketball Hall Of Fame, the late Hank Gathers, a woman’s hoop summer league and Champagne Papi make their way into the discourse on the podcast where Basketball and Life are One: The Open Run With Will Strickland!
