Inoculated Against Discouragement; Philippians 1:12-18

from Bret Hammond · host Bret Hammond

"Disability." "Disbelief." "Discontent." "Dislike." The prefix "dis" comes from the Latin meaning "apart" or "away." So to have "disbelief" is to move away from belief. To be "discontent" is to be apart from contentment, and to be "disliked" means you probably shared your opinions on Facebook. "Discourage" . . . "to part with courage." When you're discouraged, you lose your bravery—your ability to move forward in the world. Discouragement robs you of your momentum, meaning, and mojo. It stops you in your tracks and keeps you from seeing new possibilities and opportunities. We live in discouraging times. To keep moving ahead, we need to find a way to inoculate ourselves against discouragement. I believe Paul has some ENcouragement in Philippians for those who are facing DIScouragement.
