Inside Dutch Freemasonry: Secret Rituals, Symbols & the Search for Inner Light

Inside Dutch Freemasonry: Secret Rituals, Symbols & the Search for Inner Light What really happens inside a Dutch Masonic lodge? In this fascinating conversation from De Nieuwe Wereld, Jelle van Baardenwijk speaks with long-time Freemason Paul Marcelis inside a lodge in Haarlem to explore the traditions, rituals, symbols, and philosophy of Freemasonry in the Netherlands. Marcelis explains why Freemasonry is considered a private but not secret society, and how its rituals and architectural symbols—such as the square and compass—serve as metaphors for personal growth, self-improvement, morality, and building a better society. The discussion also explores the organization's non-dogmatic character, the importance of believing in a higher principle, and the role of reflection, active listening, and seeking one's own inner light. An insightful look at Dutch Freemasonry, Masonic symbolism, lodge traditions, personal development, spirituality, and the philosophy behind the craft. #Freemasonry #DutchFreemasonry #Masonry #Freemasons #MasonicLodge #FreemasonrySymbols #SquareAndCompass #MasonicRitual #Spirituality #SelfImprovement #InnerLight #Haarlem #DeNieuweWereld #Netherlands
