Inside Jaccob Slavin's Rare Double: Olympic Gold and Stanley Cup Glory

THE PINEYS Athlete of the Year: Jaccob Slavin on Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup Glory & The Pineys | NCSNDavid Glenn welcomes Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin to the 2026 North Carolina Sports Awards as NCSN’s 2025-2026 Athlete of the Year after a rare year that included helping Team USA win its first men’s Olympic hockey gold since 1980 and winning the Hurricanes’ second Stanley Cup, making him just the second American to achieve both in the same year. Slavin reflects on his Colorado upbringing, early NHL dreams, his son Charlie’s love of the Stanley Cup, and the influence of the film “Miracle.” He compares the meaning of Olympic and Stanley Cup championships, explains why Raleigh became home due to church and community, recounts bringing the Cup to Bible study and Charlie drinking Gatorade from it at the parade, and discusses how faith shaped his approach through injuries and sportsmanship. Slavin also praises Rod Brind’Amour and captain Jordan Staal for building the Hurricanes’ relentless, team-first culture.00:00 Champion Introduction01:49 Colorado Hockey Roots03:11 Charlie Loves the Cup03:58 Miracle Movie Memories06:11 Gold vs Stanley Cup08:48 Trivia Text From Morrow09:50 Making Raleigh Home11:36 Bible Study With Cup14:16 Parade Crowd Shock16:10 Faith Through Injuries18:59 Sponsor Break19:40 Sportsmanship and Faith21:28 Rod Culture Shift23:28 Jordan Staal Leadership25:46 Relentless Waves Identity27:59 Final Thanks and SignoffWelcome to the North Carolina Sports Network!Your home for all things sports in the Bold North State — from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, PGA TOUR, and NASCAR to the heart of ACC and college athletics.🎥 Stories. 🎙️ Podcasts. 📊 Analysis.Covering the legends, the rising stars, and everything in between.👇 Subscribe & follow:🌐 ncsportsnetwork.com🎧 Podcasts: Spotify, Apple & more📲 @TheNCSportsNet on all platforms#NCsports #BoldNorthState
