Inside LegisGator 2026: Louisiana Lawmakers Work Year-Round on Budget and Policy

State Representative Dixon McMakin joined host Brian Haldane live at LegisGator 2026 to discuss state policy work, local infrastructure, and upcoming economic developments. McMakin emphasized that legislative budget planning and research happen year-round, well ahead of the formal session. He advocated for common-sense updates to Baton Rouge parks, pushing to fix existing facilities and resolve backlogs before launching expensive master plans. The conversation concluded with anticipation for upcoming statewide economic announcements and a public tribute honoring LSU legend Skip Bertman.
