Inside Romania's Most Evil Prison.. THE PITESTI EXPERIMENT

After World War II, Romania's communist regime launched one of history's most disturbing psychological experiments inside Pitesti Prison. Rather than simply imprisoning political opponents, authorities sought to erase their identities through relentless torture, humiliation, and forced betrayal, transforming victims into perpetrators in an effort to create absolute loyalty to the state. In this episode of You Can't Unhear, we explore the true story of the Pitesti Experiment, the role of Eugen Turcanu, the systematic abuse carried out under communist rule, and why this little-known prison remains one of the darkest examples of psychological torture ever documented.
