Today on the podcast is the 50-Mile World Record Holder Charlie Lawrence! Charlie ran 4:48:21 at the Tunnel Hill 50 Mile in Vienna, Illinois, on November 11, 2023. The previous record of 4:50:08 was set by legend Jim Walmsley. Charlie ran 64:14 in the half marathon and 2:16:10 in the marathon twice. Charlie also paced Des Linden to her 50k WR. Charlie placed 6th place at the 2021 U.S. 50k Championships and is looking to do bigger and better things in 2024. Before all of these accolades, Charlie ran for The University of Minnesota, where he consistently contributed to the team. In today's episode, Charlie and I go through his backstory in the sport, being coached by his mom, the growth that happened at Minnesota, continuing in the sport post-NCAA, his insane 145-mile weeks, this 50-Mile WR, what's next, and more.
