He has also been Acting Chairman for Northern Ireland Conservatives, was the first Conservative Mayor in Wigan for over 30 years, was Group leader on Wigan Council for 16 years in total, Northwest Regional Chairman, Former Greater Manchester Area Chairman and a Parliamentary Candidate in four very different Constituencies - Makerfield and Wigan (traditional labour strongholds) and Bolton Northeast and Blackpool South (which are part of the Blue Wall).
