She holds a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism with a minor in Film Studies. During her time as an undergrad, she was the editor-in-chief of the university's award-winning student newspaper, The Standard, and was named the 2013 Missouri College Media Association's Journalist of the Year. In addition to being published by Security Management and The Standard, ​her work's been published by Reuters, USA TODAY College, The Springfield Business Journal, The Cedar Rapids Gazette, Celebrate Arkansas Magazine, and The Joplin Globe.​
