Inspiration now in session. Inspire guys people. Off the record. All right, I'm ready.
My dreams lined up with guys dreams. Now you know exactly what I mean. But this stays off the record. Let's talk off the record.
This is off the record. Let's get off the record. Yeah. What's up, people?
I am your host, Jay Will. And I would like to welcome you to inspire guys people off the record. I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving. I hope you finished your play.
I hope you had a beautiful Christmas. I hope you unwrap your gift. I hope that you have an amazing new year coming up. And more than anything, I hope and pray you having a good day.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. I hope you're having a good day. Hey, listen, you know how I do. We randomly go into song on this show because guess what?
I'm an artist and that's how I make music. But enough about me. It's an interesting time of year people because it's two things at the same time. It's the end of the year.
And you know the end of something brings out a certain set of emotions in people. It causes people to reflect, to look back and think about where they are, good or bad, how they got here. At the exact same time, though, we are about to walk into a new year, Lord's Willing. And something new causes a whole different set of emotions and thinking.
When you're going into something new, you're more so thinking and hoping, right? That's the interesting thing about this time of year. We allow ourselves to get caught up in the whirlwind of this crazy world we live in. And there's all these emotions flying around.
And if you don't stop, take a deep breath and think about what you're thinking about, then you will find yourself thinking about something you don't have no business thinking about. So today I want to take a little bit of time to talk about our thoughts and the power of our minds. And when you really, quote unquote, think about it, you're only listening to this show because you had a thought. Like something in you was like, yo, I'm gonna check this out.
Or you came across a link or you turn to a radio station. However you were listening to this show right now, it started with some type of a thought to do something. There's not really anything we can do in our life without thinking about it. If you want to lift up your hand, then it's something in your brain thought, lift up hand, and it triggers something in your hand.
However that go, you know, some of y'all might be some scientists, the doctors or something out there and those are a little educated professional terminology. But I'm just telling you right now, you're thinking something. So at all times, our minds are these powerful forces in our lives and they're constantly at work, but a lot of times we ignore that power and it can be the cause of how we live in our life, good or bad. So today I want to take a little time to think about how we think.
All right, let me first do this. Let's read Romans 12 and two. This is kind of a popular scripture, but I want to make a simple point from it. It says do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed.
Hold on, let's pause. Paul is telling you off rip. Don't conform to this world. Don't do what they do.
Don't come into their mode. But then he's immediately telling you, be transformed. Cool, all right, don't conform, transform. All right, I can rock with that.
I want to be a transformer. I'm Optimus Prime right now, transforming into something new. But then what I love about it is that he specifically tells you how to transform and how to tap into that power. And it says, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Your mind is so powerful that it is literally the way that you transform into a new creature and serve in Christ. Man, how dope is that? So if I have this powerful mind that is behind my transformation and that is a huge key to my transformation, then I have to guard this, right?
I have to guard the things that cause me to think a certain way. And I can't just walk around all nine shall line with stinking, thinking, thinking, thinking. Think of thinking, thinking, thinking. Hey, hey, hey, hey.
All right, I'm sorry. I want to dig a little deeper into this real quick. So I had to pull out my Believer's Bible commentary by William McDonald. Let's see what he has to say about this.
When we come to the kingdom of God, we should abandon the thought patterns and lifestyles of the world. The world as you use here means the society or system that man has built in order to make himself happy without God. Man, all right, we gonna start right there. Like that right there, that line, it hit me hard.
Cause when you look around this world today, if we're being honest with ourselves, that's what's happening. It's a system of people that are building cultures and movements and different things that are set to say, we're gonna build our own happiness. We can take prayer out of school. We don't need the God of the Bible.
We're gonna have our own movements to dictate right versus wrong. And what people don't understand is that sin can never eliminate sin. And as believers, here's why this is so important. In order for us to truly serve God and to truly give our lives to Christ, our purpose to Christ, we have to think like he thinks.
How do you do that? By looking at what he says in his word, by not allowing yourself to be mesmerized or hypnotized by the ways of the world in a way that will cause you to live a worldly life, a life that seeks to be happy without God. Listen, happy without God is a happy without peace. And we have to really just step back and take a look for a second.
Whenever you see individuals maybe in Hollywood or even friends or family, people that we know that seem to have everything, they seem to be happy. Maybe they are some type of happy without God, but without God, they never have peace. So this worldly lifestyle causes you to try to find happiness in things. Those could be material, titles or positions at work.
And what happens is you just accumulate things and you want more, you want more, you want more. But then at the end of it all, you never have peace. And when I sit back and watch a lot of times, even celebrities do this, especially through social media and the media at large, they want to try to present what seems to be a happy life in front of you. That's what they want to flash on the screen.
Couples traveling and smiling and their houses and cars and all of these things, things, things that don't bring about true happiness. And what ends up happening is that people are trying to act happy versus actually being happy. This is a very interesting dynamic to me because the source of the happiness is typically found in trying to please other people to get them to see that look. Hey, I'm happy, you get it?
Hey, don't I look happy? Doesn't my life look perfect? And then if you sit and have a conversation with people, you realize that they have some deep rooted issues in peace. And because the happiness is without God, the happiness doesn't even really feel good.
You know what I think we have to ask ourselves if we find ourselves feeling like this is where did it come from? Like what did I allow to invade my thoughts, to cause me to be depressed? Acting happy versus being happy, for causing me to need other people's approval for every little thing that I do in my life. How did I get here?
And look, I'm not judging anyone that feels that way. I know that this is a real thing for a lot of people. What I'm trying to get you to do is think differently about where you are. I know this going into this conversation.
One of the most difficult things that we could ever try to do in life is change someone's mind. It's not hard to manipulate people's mind. You know, and that's the worldly way of doing it by putting things in the movies and making the movies just dark and demonic. It's like, and believers, man, are, we're watching this stuff and we're supporting this stuff and we're pumping it on social media.
I think we have to be so careful about what we're putting in our minds, number one, but also we have to be careful about what we're encouraging other people to put in their minds. And I'm just seeing that this stuff is so engraved in our culture and society today that even believers are giving in to the ways of the world. Look, let's do this real quick. I want you to think about Snow White.
Just get Snow White in your mind, right? Think about her. You know, whatever you know about Snow White, just take a minute and think about that. Then secondly, after you think about Snow White, I want you to think about the days of the week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Think about that. Lastly, I want you to put this image in your head, a slurpee. Think about a slurpee. It doesn't matter what flavor.
You know, most of us like slurpees. You get what I'm saying? I like the red one mixed with blue. You feel me?
Think about a slurpee. Now, here's what I want you to do. Think about any number from one to ten. Get that number in your head.
That number you're thinking of is seven. If I'm wrong, email me at germanwilsomeusicajemail.com and let me know. If I'm right, also let me know, like, oh, you was right. I was thinking about the number seven.
The reason that most people will be thinking about the number seven in that situation is because I primed you. I set up your mind to think about things, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. You thought about the days of the week. There are seven days in a week.
And then lastly, we thought about a slurpee, which I know that most people are gonna, in their mind, connect a slurpee to seven, 11. So I talked about things that would lead you to think in a certain direction, I primed you. What's the point of what I'm trying to say? That's how easy it is sometimes for our minds to be manipulated.
So if the enemy wants you thinking about something bad, whatever that may be, then sometimes all he has to do is put things in your mind, plant seeds, that he knows will lead to a certain direction. It is very important to guard your mind. The very thing that you think that you just happen to do, you could have been very likely primed to do or primed to think. And here we are questioning ourselves about, why I'm not at peace.
I have the house, I have the car, I have the money. You know, whatever are all these things that, you know, we chase in this world, but at the end of the day, if you don't have the peace of God, if you don't have his word, then there is no true happiness. And as believers, we have to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. What I'm trying to tell you today, people, is that we need to renew our minds, and that is how we find true godly success.
So what you think about that? What do you think about that? Today's show is sponsored by the show. That's right, because if you don't believe in you, who will?

Look, people, sometimes you got to encourage yourself, you got to inspire yourself, you got to sponsor yourself, so we did it. And that background music that you hear is from a song entitled Dream Traveler from my last album, God Knows My Art. The music was produced by Dorelle Red Campbell Jr. and Chantel Hampton features on the song.
You know what, I don't talk enough about my music on this show, so I'm gonna take a couple minutes and I'm gonna break down verse one. I like talking about my music and giving people a peek behind a curtain of how I created it. This piano melody came in my head. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, so just imagine I'm sitting there with Red, and that's the first thing I gave him.
He immediately starts playing that on the piano, and I start rapping the first verse. Every day wasted, a day that you could've did something, every day silent, a day that you could've said something. I guess what I really was thinking about right from the jump was time and trying to capture the beauty of time contrasted with the fear of time and relating time to my dreams and our dreams in general. So that's where you get the title, Dream Traveler.
So now you have this image in my mind of this person, me traveling through time, dreaming. So it's kind of like a time traveler, but with their dream. So this hook pops in my mind at some point. I'm taking a break from the verse.
I know I'm all over the place, but this is kind of how my mind works with music. It's a time and place for all of my dreams, but I dream like all the time. Tell me if I should follow my dreams. As a person, that's a dreamer, I first have to recognize that I have to submit my dreams to the will of God.
We naturally can think, hey, because I'm a dreamer or I dream all the time, that automatically means that I should follow every dream that I have. This song is me saying as I've traveled through time, I recognize that I need to submit those dreams to God and ask him first if I should even follow what I'm seeing. Now back to the verse, the paint from the brush hits the canvas. Jesus walks out here saying, hit in the sandals.
So this is now bringing out the element of the album, God knows my art. So I have this concept of dream traveler. Now I'm painting a picture as I'm now being an artist and delivering my art. I first see and hear Jesus in the art.
So God knows my art. So I'm establishing that is kind of the beginning of my dream, because the dream is now a painting. Truth is this world could be a handful, but the devil can't light a match to his candle. So now I'm just setting up the verse in the song under this idea that yes, the world could be a handful, but I saw God in my art with all these ups and downs in life, the devil can't light a match to him.
He's too lit and he's already on the mantle. That's just an illustration of Christ being high and lifted up above all. So it's just this idea that yo, God is lit, he's the candle, he's the light. And if I establish my purpose and my art in that, then that protects me from the enemy.
My mindset is of can do. So this kind of represents a shift in the change in the direction of the conversation. Every day my energy is so positive, like the change in my piggy bank I deposit it for when I need it. So now we're talking about through the ups and downs of having a dream needing to keep a positive mindset and also kind of like deposit positivity like changing the piggy bank for whenever I need it, that I can pull out things, sound doctrine, that I can pull out scripture and motivation and inspiration, godly motivation and inspiration so that I can continue traveling through my dreams through the ups and downs.
So these next few lines set the tone for what the song is really about. It says time feels like I'm out of it. That's why I picture myself with a lot of kids. Sometimes when you're going after things, you start feeling like you're out of time based on the way you think through it as a human being.
So think about Abraham and Sarah. Sarah thought she was out of time. That's why she laughed when an angel said that she was gonna conceive because in her mind, it was over. So I'm just establishing like man, like it feels like I'm running out of time, which is also pointing back to the fact that this is why I have to give my dreams over to Christ because it's his will and not my will.
What do I say next? Me and my wife chilling out on the late night, my son hands on the wall is just paint, right? It's just art, right? The best part is that the picture has been framed in my heart.
So what I'm illustrating here is me and my wife in this scenario that for most people with children, if your child is walking around with something on their hands and they're touching the wall, it's not something that makes you happy. What I wanted us to see is that sometimes the things that we have that we take for granted that actually might even make us mad would represent someone else's biggest dream. And lastly, I just said that the picture has been painted in my heart. When I'm making music, I'm speaking from my heart.
I'm speaking from my soul. Whether or not God blesses my wife and I in the way to grow our family and give us children, this is a dream that's in my heart. And so I've given it over to the Lord. I give it over to the Lord daily, weekly, monthly, annually, whatever you wanna say, because through this idea of traveling through time, what I ultimately was trying to do with this song is be a little vulnerable, a little transparent in the area of my life, but also talk about how we have to think through these challenges.
Even if God doesn't do it, that doesn't mean that he can't. And so as believers, we don't think like the world. We have to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That's everything.
We have to transform and be renewed on how we think through our dreams. Don't let the world give you your purpose. Don't let them give you your identity. Don't even let yourself do it, because in and of your flesh, there are some things that we naturally feel, the ways that we naturally can come to conclusions that are not always right.
And that's why we have to even put our own feelings and emotions and thoughts up against the word of God. And at the end of the day, even if we don't understand something, even if it's not clear yet, just keep traveling, just keep living. It's not all about a new year for real for me. It's about a new day, because sometimes a new year causes us to put things off.
And oh, I'll do it tomorrow, I'll do it next year. No, man, new day, new mercies, new grace. I hope this is something that made you think today as you get ready to enter into the new year and beyond, I'm hoping that you also enter into a new mind. Now that that's over, you know what I gotta do today, right?
I have to do with J-Wheel Music's song of the day. That J-Wheel Music's song of the day has to be dream traveler. Maybe if you've heard the song a million times before, after hearing me break down verse one, it will allow you to have a deeper appreciation for the song and the thoughts that I spoke through those lyrics. I pray that it blessed someone else that it inspired someone else to give their dreams over to the Lord and allow him to do what it is, his will to do with him, even if we don't understand it in that moment.
I don't always understand everything as it's happening, but I know that things are working out for my good. And I praise and thank God for that. I thank God for my family. I thank God for each and every listener out there.
I need y'all to know that I appreciate you guys. I'm getting so much love for this show. People are sharing it on social media. They're sharing the links and all type of stuff, man.

Now it's time to get into the J-Wheel Music song of the day. It's Dream Traveler off my album, entitled, God Knows My Art featuring Chantel Hampton, produced by Dorelle Red Campbell, Jr. If you listen real close on verse two, you will hear me say, inspire God's people. Could it be something everyday silent, a day that you could have said something?
The paint from the brush hits the canvas. Jesus watch out here saying, hitting the sand dost. Truth is, this world could be a handful. But the devil can't like to match to his candle.
It's too lit and it's already on the mantle. It's too high but my mind said it's of candle. So every day my energy is a positive. Like the change in my piggy bank, I deposit it.
For when I needed time, feels like I'm out of it. That's why I picture myself with a lot of kids, me and my wife, chillin' out on the late night. My son heads on the wall, it's just paint right. It's just art right, the best part.
This that the picture has been framed in my heart. There's a time and place before I dream, but I dream like all the time. Tell me if I should go. Her dreams are being a rap city to basement.
Used to have dreams of a record deal, hitting up stages, fans, let me... I could picture their faces, hit my high school reunion, just a stunt on my haters. Time came change my mind frame. I still like fine things, but I no longer try to find fame.
I run from fame to taste my dreams.
