Message Title: Instructions for a New Year Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NIV) Create and fight for a culture of HONOR. RELATIONAL PEACE is a result of MUTUAL RESPECT. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive… 1 Thessalonians 5:14 (NIV) Warn the IDLE and DISRUPTIVE. …encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 1 Thessalonians 5:14 (NIV) Look beyond YOURSELF. Looking beyond YOURSELF is how you get beyond WHERE YOU ARE. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. 1 Thessalonians 5:15 (NIV) Live for the OTHER person's good. Love is living for the other person's good. Rejoice always…1 Thessalonians 5:16 (NIV) Make a HABIT and a PRACTICE of rejoicing. …pray continually… 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV) Pray CONTINUALLY. 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting… Worship Night If you get up and pray in the dark, you will have more strength and clarity in the light. …give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) Give thanks in ALL circumstances. Giving thanks in ALL circumstances is a sure fire sign of spiritual maturity. Do not quench the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV) Don't quench the SPIRIT. You can be Spirit Led, filled and driven… without being weird. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22 (NIV) Don't write off the PROPHETIC. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV) Allow God to SANCTIFY you through and through. Sanctify = purify, cleanse, separate, dedicate The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV) The life God promises IS on the other side of instructions He has given us to follow! See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 NIV
