Insurers Respond to Viral TikTok Challenge with Limits on High-Risk Car Models

State Farm and Progressive, two of America's largest car insurers, are limiting their sale of new insurance policies on certain Kia and Hyundai models due to a viral TikTok challenge that caused an "explosive" spike in car thefts. Many of the targeted vehicles lack a basic theft prevention technology called an electronic immobilizer, making them vulnerable to theft. Police have issued tips to protect these high-risk vehicles, such as using anti-theft devices and parking in well-lit areas.
