As Shakespeare said, "The eyes are the windows to the soul." Eye care should involve addressing the body, mind, and spirit. Traditional Chinese medicine refers to the eyes as the "pilot light." Our inner vision, how we view and interpret the world, affects our outer vision, how we see. Mind/body medicine depends on all of the individual factors effectively working together. Eyesight is affected by multiple factors: genetics, the food we eat, our environments, emotional and psychological health, and our belief systems. Healthy eyesight depends on our total well-being.
