Intentional Living

from Victory Church Jbay · host Louis Els

So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.2 Peter 1:10This week we will be looking at the word that Pastor Paul Dennison shared on Sunday entitled ‘Intentional Living’.Pastor Paul preached out of 2 Peter 1, specifically verses 5-7, and touched on a number of values that Peter encouraged believers to cultivate in their lives. The values are as follows:1) Faith 5) Patient Endurance2) Moral Excellence 6) Godliness3) Knowledge 7) Brotherly Affection4) Self-Control8) Love for EveryoneWe should note that these are not just virtues that we add to our lives once and then move on. We are called to grow these virtues continually as we strive to become more like Christ. We need to “make every effort” to cultivate them in our lives. It is also important to understand that whilst our journey begins with faith in Jesus, the goal is always to move towards self-sacrificing love for everyone. This way, our growth is not just for the sake of growth, but also to be able to reveal Jesus to those around us.Which of these areas do you struggle with the most? What would it look like for you to “make every effort” to develop these in your life? How could growing these virtues in your life impact your friends, family and larger community?
