International Criminal Court
from General Podcast · host Channel Africa
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has defended the body's process of conducting preliminary examinations into certain countries before a final decision to move forward with an investigation is taken. This despite a narrative from certain countries and regions that the Court is not an effective judicial body given its selectivity in prosecuting certain cases while others languish in slow moving examinations. The Prosecutor was also pressed on what final action the Court could take against Parties to the Rome Statute that have violated their commitments, particularly in executing existing arrest warrants. Sherwin Bryce-Pease reports.
