CSOs play a vital role before, during and after investigative processes. They are valuable partners who assist criminal investigators and other actors within national and international courts to seek accountability and justice. CSOs work in documenting, monitoring and reporting international crimes and provide a bevy of evidence that may be admissible in court. The evidence must be collected and preserved by these organizations with due diligence in accordance with certain standards. It must also be done with a level of care and consideration for the parties involved, especially the victims, whose safety is of utmost importance.
