Interview - Devin "PiraTechnics" Younge

In this special edition of the Rough Drafts Podcast, Chase "RedShirtKing" Wassenar sits down with Devin "PiraTechnics" Younge to discuss his experiences as an LCS Caster, how the team comes together to create the tone for the broadcast, and how stories and basic statistics can help draw viewers in. Later, they move on to a quick run through of the European LCS, including Origen's disappointing week one performance, the evolution of the Unicorns of Love, and Fnatic's recipe for long term success before closing with a rather funny outtake. 0:00 Introduction 1:36 Pira's Experience at IEM Cologne and Coming Back from His Injury 4:55 The Life of an EU LCS Caster 9:24 His Recent “Summer” Flub 11:17 Creating the Right Tone for the EU LCS Cast 15:15 The Advance Stats Movement in League and How That's Affected Pira's Analysis 21:05 How to Help Viewers Understand the Intangibles at Play 24:00 Creating the Stories and Attitude Needed to Draw in Fans 26:50 How Watching Film of Other Regions and Games Helps Shape a Caster 31:25 EU LCS Breakdown Section Begins 32:10 Biggest Week One Surprise: Origen 35:05 G2 Esports 37:50 Splyce 39:45 ROCCAT 41:25 Unicorns of Love 43:15 H2k Gaming 44:45 Fnatic 48:20 Team Vitality 51:10 Closing 52:45 Outtake Be sure to subscribe to the Esports Gambling Hour on iTunes to keep up with every episode here: geo.itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/esp…050361444?mt=2.
