✨Congratulations to Dr. Karlene Lyn on being our PowerUp Hero of AchievementSuperpowers: ZestLISTEN ONLINE: www.poweruphero.org Dr. Karlene Lyn is a Professor of Chemistry, a teacher in and out of the classroom, and an Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay Inc.Dr. Karlene, a Jamaican by birth, completed a Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. in Physical chemistry at the University of the West Indies by the age of 27. She then immigrated to the United States where she pursued Post Doctoral studies at Iowa State University. She landed her dream job as Research Chemist with Celanese Corporation in Corpus Christi TX where she currently resides. While working in the lab during the day, Dr. Karlene found the time to study and complete an MBA at TAMU-CC where she returned later as an Organic Chemistry Instructor and lab coordinator. Four years later she accepted a position at Del Mar College where she is now a tenured Associate Professor.In her Mary Kay business, Karlene ranks in the top 2% of the company. She has earned the use of her second vehicle through the company and has earned an all-expense paid cruise to the Bahamas for her and her husband. In addition to these amazing accomplishments, she has been rewarded with 5 diamond rings and many more prizes for her consistency in reaching high levels of sales. Dr. Karlene is most proud to serve her customers and her unit members as she carries out the mission of enriching lives.Dr. Karlene serves her local church as a leader and teacher. She also serves in the Pearls of Grace Dance Ministry. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the CITCO Academy at Moody High School where she participates in the GEMS and MEN4STEM Conferences yearly. In addition, Dr. Karlene Lyn has just been appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Stark College and Seminary.Karlene is proud to have completed 3 marathons and has placed in the top 3 in her age division in the half-marathons that she has run.
