J Mocha is an urban Hip Hop & R&B artist with a little soul. Recently in an interview with Sound Initiative’s instructor Michele Thomas J Mocha stated that “I honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else but music.    By the age of four he was walking around the house carrying his boom box singing every song that came on to the radio. Growing up in a rough neighborhood on the east side of the city, it was easy to be influenced and lead in the wrong direction but one of his favorite quotes “The first step towards success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself” by Mark Caine helped him become one of the chosen ones to make it out. Raised in both places Pine Bluff, AR and Chicago, IL he had a different outlook on life.
