Interview with David Long, NECA CEO - 02.21.20

The goal of today’s interview was to not only give David the opportunity to discuss his vision for the NECA organization but more importantly to ask David the questions that seem to surface in hallways at national meetings, bar rooms of hotels and through email & text chains but are never really discussed in a broad forum. Today you’ll get to learn those answers straight from the David’s mouth. I think an important leadership lesson here is that oftentimes the guy at the top doesn’t hear the real issues…the pressing concerns. And although it’s easy to point the finger at the top…if you’re unwilling to step into that leadership moment and ask the question, who’s fault is that? Listen we’ve all ducked those moments. All of us. The reasons for not asking the questions are vast and wide. Some of the time very valid…but most of the time they’re centered around protecting ones own ass. As we grow on our leadership journey it’s important to recognize these moments and seize the opportunities when presented. I’m hoping today’s interview will clear up some of the confusion circulating amongst our association.
