Laura Shapanus is an actor, writer, producer, film maker and the mom of a 14 year old teenage son with Aspergers. Laura just finished screening her second short film, " Sharks vs. Minnows" which appeared at The Golden Door International a Film Festival. Laura starting creating her own work as an actor after feeling like there weren't very many substantial parts for women over 35 available. She started writing plays years ago when she was part of a theatre company in NYC. Her first short film, "Acceptance" was the story of a mom finding out her young son had Aspergers. Her new film tells the story of a mom trying to protect her son with Aspergers from being excluded by the neighborhood kids. Both film were inspired by true events.
