Interview with R. Kevin Doyle, Asso Producer, Improvaganza! Hawai'i Festival of Improv

It was an honor to talk to R. Kevin Doyle, associate producer and education directorof Improvaganza! Hawai'i's Festival of Improv.Founded by Garrick Paikai, the Improvaganza! is Hawaiʻi only international improvisation festival, and has featured improvisers from Honolulu to the Big Island to New Zealand and Italy.  The Festival of Improv is running on its 14th year in Honolulu. This year they have gathered 13 groups from across the U.S. to take part in the four-day celebration of improvisation in all its diverse expressions. They strive to cultivate Hawaiʻi’s local improv community by showcasing local and mainland improvisers while providing opportunities for them to network. The festival also strives to raise the profile of the improvisation artform by introducing audiences to entertaining, stimulating, and thought-provoking performances, and providing performers and theater-goers alike a chance to build and learn improv skills in festival-sponsored workshops. The event will be held at the Kumu Kahua Theatre ( 46 Merchant Street, Honolulu, Hawaii) from October 3 to October 6, 2019.
