Luke is a a Gospel that has been written in a way to give access to the person and work of Jesus to everyone.  He states his primary purpose in writing in Luke 1:4, where he says that "so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught."  Luke desired his readers to have a firm foundation to build their faith from, where they could have certainty in what they were taught.
