The Howard Committee was established by the U.S. congress to investigate the widespread claims of voting fraud in Kansas Territory. Over 1300 pages of testimony was recorded concerning fraud and violenct by both pro- and anti-slavery supporters. This podcast includes excerpts from this testimony which highlight some of the violence and intimidation that occurred during the struggle over whether or not slavery would be legal in Kansas.
