I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.' - Jesus, Luke 14:23-24 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. - Jesus, Rev 22:17 The Kingdom of God is one of those 'big ideas' woven through the entire Bible. Throughout the Gospels accounts, Jesus repeatedly describes the Kingdom through stories about common events & customs. In this passage, we'll see Him teach about the kingdom in terms of a great feast - a wedding banquet. And we'll see that in many ways the banquet is scandalous. Through the text in Luke 14, we'll see: 1. that Jesus invites us to a free party (v12-17) 2. that despite the invitation the party surprises many (18-20) 3. that the invitation list is filled with party-crashers (13,21-22) 4. that we have a role in distributing the invitations (21-23) 5. that the party will be packed out (23)
