What can’t you expect?! Amirite? In all seriousness the subscriptions feature episodes that are personal retellings of actual events from my past history in active addiction. The stories will range from cautionary tales to real life accounts of crazy and unbelievable strings of unfortunate events, all the way through to snapshots of my interactions with various characters that pass through the grand stage of drug addiction. Through my tales you’ll be introduced to all sorts of individuals who each played key roles in shaping my life today; you’ll meet a 6’ 5” pimp who broke me out of the first inpatient facility I had ever gone to, you’ll meet a human dupe of Sid Vicious in Snakeskin Boots who was the defining person that introduced me to my now husband, you’ll hear the greatest semi-charmed love story of all time, you’ll meet various sex workers, sexual assault and incest survivors turned addicts, a polygamous drug dealer who was paramount to my introduction into the world of recovery, everyday moms who moonlight as drug addicts unbeknownst to their families, former gang members, cartel drug runners, career criminals, and even one or two convicted killers and one alleged murderer who shot a man dead in self defense right in front of me (and everyone else on the street). But you’ll also meet my former addiction specialist physician who became more than my physician and turned into one of my biggest supporters and most trusted and valued friend, you’ll meet the only person I’ve ever called family (in a good way) who lost his life far too early and while completely clean and sober but due to the cumulative effects of a longstanding history (25+ years) of substance use..just to name a few 🩶 Why are the subscriber only episodes under lock and key of a subscription? Is it even worth it?The subscriber only episodes aren’t featured on The Real Recovery Podcast for a few reasons: namely because they are subjective recounts of my personal history in active addiction and as such I feel they are best consumed by an audience who very much understands the implications of subjectivity, and individuals who can discern between healing through narrative vs. romanticism and glorification. If that’s you then heck yes it’ll be worth it 🩷L
