Iowa Player with Heart: Elsie Westergard

As a Beck's Player with Heart, Elsie Westergard shows dedication and leadership both on and off the court and field. She competes in basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer while also being involved in FFA, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, theatre, and student council. Through these activities, she has built strong relationships with teammates, coaches, and classmates while learning the value of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. Elsie is also active in her community, volunteering with Royal Family Kids Camp, serving on the Ireton Community Vacation Bible School team, and helping the American Legion place flags and crosses on Memorial Day to honor local veterans. She has also served as a mentor to middle school students through her school’s mentoring program. Growing up on her family’s farm gave Elsie a deep appreciation for agriculture and the hard work behind it. Through her FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience in swine production, she has gained hands-on experience caring for livestock and learning the responsibility that comes with it.
