Iowa State’s Defensive Line Overhaul | Iowa State Cyclones Basketball News

Iowa State’s defensive line is getting a complete overhaul this season, swapping to a four-man front and reloading via the transfer portal. Veteran Zaimir Hawk anchors the tackles, while rising stars like Jace Gilbert and Trey Verdon are primed for bigger roles. Big-name transfer Isaac Terrell — a proven pass rusher and team captain from Washington State — leads the charge on the edge, backed by depth from Caden Crawford, Bryson Lamb, and Max Baloun. The coaching staff prioritized players who already know their scheme, aiming for a smoother transition. The key question? Can they find a reliable secondary pass rusher to pair with Terrell? Success hinges on cohesion and breakout performances from the younger guys — if they win those one-on-one battles, this unit could be formidable.
