Iran and the United States are technically in a ceasefire, but the situation on the ground tells a very different story. Iranian forces have repeatedly targeted commercial vessels, struck infrastructure in the UAE, and engaged U.S. naval forces in and around the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, U.S. officials insist these actions remain “below the threshold” of restarting full-scale war. This creates a dangerous contradiction: active combat without an official war.
