Ireland is taking over the presidency of the European Council today

Each county will be paired with a European country, and Limerick has been paired with Europe’s largest economy, Germany.Over the next six months, Limerick will see international conferences at UL, TUS, and Mary I, alongside cultural events supported by the Shannon Foynes Port, Hunt Museum and the German Embassy. So what does this role actually mean for Irish citizens, and what benefits will the presidency bring to the country?
