Ireland’s President Catherine Connolly is in Oslo for the state funeral of Norway’s beloved King Harald V, Europe’s longest-reigning monarch who died at 89 after 35 years on the throne. Attending with her husband, she joins global leaders as Norway mourns a unifying figure known for his embrace of diversity and deep connection to the people. The solemn procession, led by new King Haakon VIII, will be guarded by thousands of security forces as Norway observes a minute of silence and pays tribute through flowers and national grief.
