Irie Jamms Show Bernard Collins Abyssinians Interview
from DJ 745 · host DJ 745
In this weeks Irie Jamms Show, DJ 745 interviews Bernard 'Satta' Collins of The Abyssinians live from his home in Kingston, Jamaica. Shining the spotlight on the lead singer of one of the finest groups to emerge from Jamaica in the late 60s. He passionately shares the story of his first forays into music and exactly how their debut single, ‘Satta Amassa Gana’, a song written by himself in 1968 came to see the light. Only after the group bought the master tapes from Coxsone Dodd and issued the song on their own Clinch imprint, backed with ‘Let My Days Be Long’, did it see the light of day – and it was such a success that Dodd promptly issued his own instrumental version of the track. More revival gems from Aswad, In Crowd, Freddie Mcgregor, Bob Andy and much more. 'Strictly Vinyl Selections from Yesteryear'
