Despite growing up in one of England's most deprived areas and witnessing firsthand the healthcare challenges in the North East, Iris discovered that HM Treasury's budget caps prevented Health Education England from funding sufficient training places. This episode explores how Westminster's political choice to treat public investment as a cost to minimise, rather than recognising that the government issues the pound, has left willing workers unable to reach the wards that desperately need them.
