Iron Bulldog Invitational Returns | St. Louis News

Get ready for the Iron Bulldog Invitational — the third annual city-wide boxing showdown hitting Cottage Avenue in front of Sumner High School on August 22, 2026, from 2 to 6 PM. Free, family-friendly, and sanctioned by USA Boxing, this outdoor event celebrates local talent with music, food, and a vibe powered by volunteers from Sumner’s legendary ’68, ’69, and ’70 grads. Rooted in history — Sumner opened in 1875 as the first African American high school west of the Mississippi, and The Ville has long been a boxing powerhouse thanks to legends from the Tandy Recreational Center. Organized by the River Blues Community Development Organization, this is more than a fight — it’s a revival of community spirit and tradition. Don’t miss it.
