So live well live hi everyone and welcome to the nerdy of not podcast. It's a very podcast is hosted by Northern Nodes I am when you were some and I am the creature that is back from the death. So yes, I died last week Really good for a dead person dead On the thumbnail I'm quite green and that as well. No, I didn't have the bridge virus But yes, I am the host I'm your joined by the fabulous the beautiful the lady that puts the woman in the woman of nerd culture that is Know what an introduction that was I was getting a bit close to my life I was going to say so I was going to say so I was going to say so I was going to make that all went just yet It was actually two minutes in It's eight o'clock on a Sunday.

I'm apologizing for missing last week I spent even in hospital birthing out kidney stones that are being told is more painful than childbirth I told you not to say that in front of women who have actually had children I warned you not to say that In the second time you said it Because you just learn lessons that's why It's not a flippable place I don't think I cried in a corner and put like a little baby just rocked If the storm is only three minutes long so it's only tiny anything Not centimeter I'll probably chop me cock rather than pound a pie faster I'm talking about cocks. We are doing Oh yes shot! What a epic secret! Yes, do you want to do a little bit of a disclaimer then?

I would love to on the back of that So everything discourses and opinions and opinions and all and if you would like to discuss anything from today's episode I believe you've come and join us on the Facebook page Join the Nurni of North Discord Or comment section where we have no discussion But what we want to have is anyone coming for us in town? There's our opinions are wrong because we can all agree to disagree in fandom so let's keep it fun Keep it kind and keep the toxic behaviour out of noodism Very well said, yes Thank you all! That's been said in front of Richard O'Brien and the BBC and Neil Marshall, Taffler Darling Sorry, I'm just gonna make some cry just on this special episode So if I got you, you could just recall where it's been said and it's like oh shit yeah Remember the time when I could only see it being on the BBC? Memories?

So yes, so tonight is a good special episode This is on the back of Sony Pictures being very kind and send me a little promo gift To promote the home release of 28 years later But not only that, we have not just a fan, we have someone that would class as an upset Obsessee? Obsessee? I would say a super fan Super fan, yes, I am, a little bit of a super fan I'll be snorkely, shall we see? That would work, that would work It's very well known that I am a big fan of zombie films And especially this series, the fact that I did a 28 day countdown Did it?

Yes It did, oh my god, it feels like a million years ago and it really wasn't It wasn't, it was what, three months? Yes, we got on the high train for this song And you especially, they really did That's been all the fucking set pieces as well, she was meant to Oh there, I've been to all the island That's where the book is now I'm going to the island and everything like three weeks ago Where have we been? Haven't even seen me into the know for a while I've told you past it So that's a few points that we'll come across when we're talking about the idea as well So do you want to do taglines? Yes, I do Because you didn't forget the panic before we went online Sorry, it's, no, got a happy thing, oh god, that's so bright Sorry, wow, I'm so shiny It's so good, it's so good, it's so good Okay, so first one is, time didn't heal anything Yes Okay, next one, it's only two In 28 days it began, in 28 weeks it spread In 28 years it evolved That one, in a world Yeah, that's wrong with that, that's a really good tagline And the fact that there's only two as well was really, really good There's your taglines So before we get into this movie, just it's quite an interesting one Because this movie has split Everyone, like I would say, not just the horror community But anyone who enjoys the movies and stuff It's very much, the people I've spoken to There's no middle ground with this dive, I really like it Or they really don't like it And I can understand both viewpoints as well Because me and Sammy were guessing on another podcast a few months ago A few months ago, I suppose that was the last month Where we talked about Lost Boys But 28 years later was brought up And the horror for that really hit this movie Yeah, I didn't like it at all Maybe because they were from south, but I was going to say you can't quite if it is But then I'm just realizing who's sitting with us I'm only jogging southern as the lake is really I think this is a very much a northern movie as well Like as a whole But with Becca, with you being a super fan Where do you stand on this movie?

Because it's very different from the ones that came before it They still so much Not just because I had really high expectations I didn't actually have high expectations Because I went into this film completely blinded I didn't actually watch any trailers I literally didn't watch anything I didn't even know, is it Ralph Bynes? Yeah, I didn't even know he was in it So he was a complete surprise because I didn't want anyone else's opinion Jumping on me and tell me how I should enjoy this film I obviously went to go see it for another second Second date was out And it's very different from the first two films But those two first films are very different from each other I always find that these type of films are designed to be different from the previous one I don't just mean the director of the style or anything like that or the visual styles I like to think of them as that I say films Because you wouldn't necessarily need to know about the previous films to enjoy this film And that's really what I love about the 28 series It's such a good film and you can jump in at any point and you don't even need to watch them in order really So enjoy I can't completely get that but to jump on your little point there about the isolation part To watch each of these films in isolation The last one was going to change that a little bit Because I didn't know this before Because I came out and was like what the fuck's going on? It is very confusing I don't know how you guys thought I didn't know this was going to be a trilogy before going to say this movie I didn't actually know that I did not know that Sorry, I don't know what I love about the good zombie films Don't know the dates one of my favourite zombie films I thought I'd pay homage with Night Live and Dead even though it's got Jack shit to do with this series But I watched these I watched this So I don't know what the fuck In a run So I did the first one, the second one, and then straight away did the third one I was immersed in this world And you want absolutely right back out You could jump in and you don't have to watch the first two to watch the third one or vice versa But it does really help I think these movies are so good at evolution And the fact that from the first one to the last one There's a clear change and shift in this virus that they have I was so immersed So fully immersed in it So by the time I got to this one I was like Oh Christ what else are they going to throw? I was like Robbie Carlisle's still going to be alive somewhere But he's not dying And honestly convinced me Selfie was going to be alive somewhere What did I surprise you?

I was in Amity It took us by surprise how much I thoroughly enjoyed And I don't know actually I do know because I watched it again by itself And still had that same feeling So it wasn't the case of the first two helped Does that make sense? Because it didn't help us It felt great to be a part of that world In its entirety And I love that aspect as well With your saying that aspect of this film Because I had trepidation going at this movie Not because of I knew it was going to be a good film I knew it was just With it being showcasing the North East And being predominantly in the North East Because we have had the North East shown On movie or TV And we have made a laugh and stock We have never been taken seriously We have never been showcased for what makes the North East beautiful or wonderful or Kind of like why people are so Endeared by coming to the North East And that's where I was thinking They're going to have these people in Do the dodgy accents and see things that That stereotypical thing we see But they didn't do that They had the mannerisms that had the Isms for the way they said things But the way they Shorcaste and talked as well They were like the party scene Is for Lou and Jordy I'll be honest with you Is when the father crowd Is basically bragging about his son Being the zombie killer That was so northern That was basically you could I could imagine my dad doing that Instead of being killed on the zombie Paul went out and scored his first try In rugby and he was upon this That felt so authentic North East to me I got this one I was like this is just like taking us Serious for once and that kind of meant A lot more to us than I was expecting That's lovely I was worried the accent because you're right We have had There's one that comes to mind It's a canoe program that was on ITV E-Pit E-Pit Do we say E-A-Lot? E-E-E shut up Yeah I was really worried about the accents And then when I was doing like Because you know once I finished the film I was like oh clearly I've got to know everything about it now And the only genuine no there is the kid Everyone else is a Jody Kormer Oh my god can that woman do an accent? I heard so many people annual in her voice I was crazy You were a cunt?

I was like get in Yes Yeah Aaron Taylor Johnson at the moment That guy can do no wrong for me He's just not gonna out of the park With everything that I am singing him in I know I'm not the hugest fan of Nosferado That did not mean I did not enjoy his performance There was something else that I'd seen him in And he was just seems to be doing so well And I was so pleased He took the time and care to learn how we talk Because that speech could have gone so wrong In so many ways And it was so important for the like It was built in where this community is And it was explaining how important what he just done was To the whole community So yeah it could have gone terribly wrong He did so, everyone did There was not one There's not one bum naught A bum accent done in here Yeah and I know we can laugh about it now But how basically the walk-in from Holy Island to the east of the north within Two minutes Two minutes I mean, I know how difficult, like I said I'm in the wrong direction they're going What got me? Where's the fucking motorway at? Where's the ear one gone? Would have it completely overgrown?

I think they were staying off like the main track and beating track And one thing I wanted to talk about as well Because I would class 28 days later as a zombie film 28 weeks later Definitely this I don't think I would class this as a zombie film at all It's a disorption film Yes it's got a few zombies in But they're not the main focus of their story They're not the main focus of what's going on in this movie It's about like the relationship and survival in this world That's where I think a lot of people didn't enjoy this movie as much Because they were expecting more to be rage virus Take it over, it's no, like the rage virus is kind of burning out And we get a few shit facts on these Then we've got the alphas that with the massive dick That could not lower the tree with its own penis So it's the evolution of the virus as well, isn't it? The portrait is in, I'll back it up, help us out Is it dawned at? No, the most, land of the dead Land of the dead Land of the dead, the thing is on Yes, land of the dead kind of goes into the evolution of zombies They've kind of evolved and why would they not? Evolution is a thing, regardless of the state And I love that aspect of it that it's, you're right There's so much more to this than just the virus aspect of it But I love what Danny Biola has managed to do with it It's not stagnant, we're not in the same place we worked 20 years ago Things have evolved and changed And this is the result of it You see that with the blotted out zombies Look at the state of them, they are what would have been 20 years before Now we are, look at these, and the alphas are terrifying I thought I was scared at the blotted zombies because there were silent killers Like how creepy they crept, you didn't hear anything But my god was I shaking up when I saw the size of that, forget the dong But I have to admit, I watched this and listened about it and I didn't see that Because I think I was so wrapped around whatever else was happening It wasn't a tale of Chris and I actually mentioned that And I was like, what?

You are such an innocent Your eyes are so innocent, it's where my eyes went too sweet a wee I remember if I actually had my lens in So I was like, crap I was like, I'm sorry, even if you didn't have your lens, that would have put your eye out I just think I was so wrapped up in what was going on And the fact that I was very excited, I was on my own little adventure, I went to the cinema by myself I had the six that went backwards, I was in my own end Oh, I love it, isn't it so like in power and just going to the cinema by yourself? Oh, I love it I was living my best life, but yeah Viruses, you know, they mutate, they evolve But also, as you now realise, this film is part of a trilogy So if this is setting up that trilogy, it's not just going to be how it was No, I'm not, what I'm liking is I'm really hoping because they've got the same director of a writer for the next one I think the type of style is going to go on and people are going to go back and appreciate this film for setting up this new world I think you are right, if not your stereotypical zombie film No It has elements of it, but I don't think it was designed to be your stereotypical No I don't think it was Yeah, but and you've sent really something quite interesting and I wanted to kind of touch on with this I would just film was designed and again, I think this is the perfect word for this type of thing Because everything in this movie is by design You are mirrored when you're watching this film and again, I'm not seeing this as a bad thing You are mirrored to feel uncomfortable Like everything from the sounds to the music to the speeches to the camera angles And again, we'll talk about the cameras and how we use them here Everything is designed to put you in a kind of like an uncomfortable position until you get to the born temple Where everything kind of is eased away because the conversations and the tones that is talked about in this movie Are so uncomfortable and people are scared to have these conversations It's like, yeah, his mum is basically dying and his dad's just pretending that's not happening Or she'll be fine, but it's sons doing everything he can bless him to get his mum better And he finds us a way through and the way that because this movie is all about death Like people with the virus and everything coming on and basically passing and moving on When we get to the store and temple with a refined character He looks so sinister and so scary, but he is one of the most softest and most beautiful souls you will ever meet And he turns everything as a doctor would with kid gloves, but he doesn't bullshit It's all matter of fact What I like is his treats and death with dignity Yes, yes, oh my god that is such a beautiful way of putting it because I don't see this movie is solely predominantly death Which is quite shocking for me as he had more his love There's a lot of love and respect behind it And it's a love and respect for life and the not you're right There was no bullshit behind him, but when you saw that I know back it didn't but when I saw the trailer instantly I was like, oh my god, it's Ralph Fiennes, he's gonna be fucking horrifically terrifying and we've seen how good he does bad guy And for it to be flipped and it's like, oh my god, no, he's probably one of the most beautiful people you'll ever meet in this universe Is that born temple? I want to live there I'll write the smell. I'll be honest.

I wouldn't like the smell. Hey, he was covered in what'd you call it? I did I design? Oh, you probably didn't have any smells?

Probably burnt out that whole section of that movie. I had a dean that said yeah that whole section of the movie was I don't want to say it better than the rest because that's not the case at all, but I was so intrigued by that So when I found out that the born temple was going to be a thing I was like, oh god that exploit that totally explains the short time that we are here for and I'm happy with that I don't know why that is though because all the way through the movie you're uncomfortable and tense It is as open and it relaxes you and allows you to feel comfortable and that's the reason It's when like the music I found before that part there wasn't much music It was a lot of silence or as we had at the beginning with the boots on the bow and That's the psychological word, trained exercise, isn't it? I found up into that part there isn't that much music or if there is music it's very very subtle And then you kind of get the moment where the mum passes away and that's what the music is going on just for Very much kicks in and very much like you Sam I was like oh okay but they all didn't expect to cry Like bear in mind when I first watched it I'd been you know I got very attached to the people in the first one Like incredibly attached to where I did have a little moment but in like going into the second one it was all It was just all go go go and then this one it was like honestly didn't expect to have a full on meltdown at the end That was probably one of the most beautiful and dignified that it's such a great way to put it This woman had suffered so much and he was going to allow her to take a less painful way to pass over And for her son to know that she is finally at peace That was such a beautiful way but I know it wouldn't have gone one or two ways He could have been very angry at the fact that he did show some anger But it wasn't I think he kind of like worked through it that this is not meant to be He's not out here to hurt us on purpose whereas I don't know what the stages of all the stages of grief But in a short time to wait because I think within this world that he now lives in he hasn't got time to do grief like we would in our normal life He has to you know think a lot quicker than what we ever would have to because it's in his world it's life and death So with this film as well it is not beyond its controversy shall we say that's probably the best way to put it In the realm of I'm not that's not a bit in the realm of it's in traitors because we get things in this movie that doesn't get explained Which is perfect because I said we get an atology The train scene where we have a zombie given birth to a child is one of as I said it is controversial because you see the full birth And for the zombie lore as well we are I know it's difficult because you get people in communities online kicking off sin Or you can't call them zombies Well rage victims what do you want us to say Given birth to a normal baby I know that baby's not gonna be normal that that's the thing because Well not in this world But I love the fact that as I said now we get the chosen they don't kind of explain that like what's gonna happen or how it's gonna Be and especially with the alpha Samson having such an attachment to the kid as well Yeah, yeah, there's a lot there's a lot that's now gonna have to be explained but didn't need to be in that moment You just need to get used to the fact that this is how the virus has changed from how you originally knew it It's not it's not so much rageful anymore. There was it there was a different level of attack Rather than how it was take what we call out for example He was just fucking off his tits like as in like rage just come I know he has that kind of moment where you feel like he recognizes the people who were there for a second and then But then it just goes tits up and it's so evolved it blows my mind that that's where he's gone from and to Because I didn't expect that I thought we would because I'd been in the world where it was 28 weeks 28 days 28 weeks I expected things to be in that same place and it wasn't and it was really really refreshing And that's exactly how I felt when I watch an under the dead land of the dead Got exactly the same critics and the fact that the fact that the zombies evolve and how could that be how the fuck do you know?

What happens because it's not fucking real But it's not that obviously that started in days that you know evolution of the zombie war started in days And then obviously what 20 20 years later it's carried on in land and yet I do think they take it and you know a page from George Romero's lore book so to speak and developing Yeah, but yeah, but that makes it more interesting because if it was the same old thing you would have to say it's three films just fighting against the same thing The levels got to evolve but just as you said I love the fact that This is clearly a sequel but with no Easter eggs from what's gone in the past That's the thing it didn't say I didn't think it needed a reliance in all of this little nod this person or this little story It was quite I was quite refreshing but the Sony open ended questions that's got me like the child's really like what's going on there the mask the made a big thing about the mask of the skull like with the flashbacks and like yes what like that's got to be something otherwise Why it's such a cool open mask? Yeah, it seemed very realistic like something like very weak a man I don't know why I got such a weak a man goes from this And sorry you were making such a good point and I was like ready to jump in with something and I totally forget I'm sorry No, no it's like there was so many different aspects and again like what through it was well a take shot with the whole like saying like the foot Orton is basically the you're getting Jimmy's origin story and starting off with the fucking telly-tobies I did not say that coming Okay, this part and the part of the end yeah completely screwed my head for weeks like really yeah yeah, I couldn't screw to my head because I was like they've got telly-tobies they've got power rangers I literally was like oh my god they've gone back to the 90s they've literally thought about what's on television then What life would have been like if we didn't have the last 30 years and that was the moment it stopped and it literally screwed my head for weeks What's still there what the things would we have asked out? I have to say and it's quite funny because obviously I run a zombie writing game it sets in the UK and it gave me so much writing fuel to finger out. For weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks I was going to face a film.

Can we talk about it? Have you seen it? Have you seen it? You know, just to kind of reflect and do that but it did screw my head for a few weeks because I was like oh my God like it pulls and that is where they pulled, like telly-tobies and obviously other things that come out later at the end at the end of the film Yeah, what I absolutely loved about that scene is we're still in the rage part of the virus So it does make you feel like oh well We are just gonna continue on from the last two and that's when the shift happens and you like kind of you I don't think we realized at the time and I don't think you might know from till the very end when you meet Said person again and you're like oh, yeah, okay Before came out it said this make you came out these people are in this film and Jack O'Connell is After after he's gone to the moon now with But I was thinking okay, where's he gonna show up and he doesn't actually show up until the end and again Because I'm that engrossing this movie because you cannot take your eyes off this movie That's thing because if you it captures everything and when you're painting I was like oh, yeah, it's not kind of why the fuck does he look like Jimmy Yeah, yeah, I think we are yeah, but as Becca said If this stopped in the 90s, there's no Ennonski it Jimmy Sable is still a scene Yeah, this is the genius part of it is and I thought it was brilliant because We've you absolutely right go back at his in his life time stopped at a certain period Why would he not be like that?

Why would this man who was so? Disguised in the work that he was doing that we nobody knew until until afterwards So why would he not have that is it's odd yeah It's odd that he has him as a hero But bear in mind we have no idea what it is he was watching because power Rangers clearly played a huge part in it a huge part But the formation that they had but Jack O'Connell is just making so many good choices I thought it was genius what they did and I know a lot of people had a lot of thoughts It's like honest. I love this I thought was a brilliant and it really kind of like in a moment where you are it's so somber this kid is lost his mom He's now starting to realize that he's lost respect for his dad Yeah, that's gone and he needs and now he's like trying to figure things out by himself at such a young age And he has an encounter before these guys even show up and you then oh shit. Okay.

This is where right now like it's such a moment of Okay, I'm sorry now How do we go forward with this but yeah, and where are we going with this like oh my god? But it's such a sorry like this film was very very surreal and that is how it ends It's a very surreal moment, but it also the fact that they've chosen Jimmy They've obviously the main character from the first film is Jim And I literally was all the way through thinking all that kid is Is Jim you know for the first one I was like well no it's not because he was an adult Yeah, I was like who is this Jim and then obviously when you see one of the rage victims in the cottage He's what Jimmy yeah, it should interest chest all the way through you kind of have these moments and you're thinking Okay, it's just gonna be Jim. We're gonna see in the last couple seconds and then you've got so Jimmy crystal and it's So completely different and I literally I have to do a positive apology because there was a man's sidex to me You have to put all the way through the film world. Oh my god.

Oh my god And I think I kind of went look and I feel like I am an apology for this moment because I just went what the Like I was I was I was just kind of sat there and I was like and even as I was a man you went I feel the same love I did know who this man was obviously he got unfortunately sat next to me through this film and I was just like oh But do you not think that reaction is because of the style and the tone of the movie we've had up until this point yeah Then it discourse not We're talking about like in a dystopian world where zombies and the UK has been quarantined and stuff like that But now we've it's gone to the realm of like a little bit of fantasy where we've got ninja Jimmy And I'm here for us. Yeah, like as you said fighting the same style as power Rangers all with like the white wigs or white hair The gold chains And fantasy is such a great word for it, but I didn't so on first watch I didn't piece things together So, you know when you do see the guy who's been hung upside down and left in the cottage in the young kids I could why would someone do that to someone and there's like Jimmy was here like written on the side of the house I didn't piece any of that together from the because I'm so again. I was so involved in this I was like totally immersed that there was things that I was missing it wasn't until the second washer Oh my god, there it is there it is there's another reference He's being here the whole time We just oh I have not been paying calls of attention because we're thinking about this poor kid and the journey that he's on We're talking about oh, I'm totally missing all these other references that are around us Jimmy was there the entire time Loved it Jimmy obviously Jimmy's out of all that was It just thinks come on man. It's so brilliant But this is this is why I think a lot of people outside of Britain Don't get this film as much no because of those references I think because I'd obviously Jill who's on the No, no, I've just got she had to watch a Google of your references to understand Where was coming from?

Yeah, we will listen to last podcast on the left and they did a whole episode on Jimmy's Apple and they kept calling Jimmy Saville And it was so annoying so there was people messing and saying you need to look up the pronunciation So when they talked about they love this movie and when they talked about this movie and the fact that Jimmy Saville was Referenced and they kept correcting the name all the time and I thought it was a genius move we as people know what this man did We are not fucking stupid. We're really not but to reference it back to the fact that this is in this world We don't know that yeah, all these kids wouldn't have known that nobody knows it in this world He would have still been the same that he portrayed himself and masked himself to be so it made total sense to me when the reveal happened And it gets me excited for the next movie and all you're supposed to look at it as like a one movie thing But this is a trilogy. I will scary that gun would be especially because general Connor has The ability to literally terrify the life out of you like if you watch if anyone's watch sinners this year He plays sinister scary all so well Unpredictable and that's the thing and I think in this type of world where the young kid spike is so innocent and trying to basically Move move through it as well. It's it's gonna be such a moment and I think this one wasn't the scary I'll be honest.

I say it was the uncomfortable one the next ones gonna be the shit your pants horror movie And yeah, the tree I can't is it the sicker more the sicker more gab tree I love the fact that that was there that was such a lovely to me I put it in a seat I because it was filmed afterwards. Oh, I remember when that happens It was like round about this time two years ago and it was destined like absolute A public landmark for us. So I love the idea the page homogen hadn't in there because obviously that wouldn't have happened in this world We have read it betans on these in here, but we don't have to kids And I love the fan theories as well around this one It was leading up to risk because especially that image of the very pale and thin zombie Was revealed and everyone was like oh my god He's a girlfriend told him everyone's gonna think that's that's you I was like no, no, I was like, oh, actually I would run apology. Yeah, they are and he's actually He's like the producer he still works in these movies which I thought was brilliant I was like I love the idea that he still is coming back to it even though he's not in it He's still working in it rumors kicking about mm-hmm.

He might be playing a part in one of the trophy I hope so it would be so like full so it's all on the type of yeah, and it's all 28 years It's not like it's a huge gap coming as a piggy blinders on me I Think it's brilliant about Danny Boyle is that he treats his movies like indie movies. Yeah, everything is done within the indie realm Especially the way that he films things like Antlers me and for taught about this He was like I don't get it I don't get the height around it now and why people love these movies so much and I was like I don't know I can To be degree I can get where you're coming from because this this there can be cut if you break it down It can come across quite basic But if you really going into the background of it then you will find something other than basic in there But what I also think is really helpful is the way that Danny has evolved not just his his virus But also his ability of using different methods to shoot the movies in greatest advertisement And I thought you'll ever get this movie I lost my mind when I saw how he did that run insane with the just the rig and the iPhones around it I was like oh my god, he's a fucking genius. That's so clever That was so much patience as well imagine like all them different angles and you like right? I do the tik-tok thing was hard enough like I Couldn't even imagine the end for that.

I do question There's not the fact that the did use like the iPhone I think was 15 or 14 15 pro And I don't I don't mind that the user my question is why did they that's the thing Again, he's using it at least doing it. It's evolution a filmmaking and different ways and different techniques and it's not a case of Oh, yeah, you could just go get a camera It's easy enough done But why don't we have a look and see what the effect of this can do and this can bring out in this moment Very to my this moment is fucking terrifying you have a giant of a man with a huge fucking swing and don't coming at you The first one is the guy from the holy islands one is this That was that freaked me out. Yeah, how silent in water he ran and how silent that moment was as well And at the same time I'm looking at the sky going oh my god isn't that so pretty holy shoot Look behind you and it was one of those moments when you're like look behind you. He's coming And yeah, I just I feel like he's eat like I said he treats all these movies as an indie style movie So why not push and evolve and do something different to to make it stand out even more and I know with all the attachments It was more than just an iPhone that was the film but the fact that they did it hands off But again, it wasn't more just to show that what can be done and again, it's interesting that Not any shot was out of place everything kind of looked like the way it should have done it Everything looked stunning and just amazing.

So again, it's not about the tools that you've got It's down with the film a couple of people that you've got surrounding that's me and these films as well 100% but it also shows future filmmakers look what we did with this In DC But Danny Boyle is very much like this, you know the first 28 years The first films to be shot in digital so it's not it's not a new realm for him because he does like to do this He does have to do this type of thing I think he likes to push the envelope and it all like I say it shows other Besides Lee it shows other, you know people who are wanting to be filmmakers, you know We did this whole movie on a fucking iPhone like look at what the ability that you could be able to do and I just and I know that And he he trick like I say not only treats his film make and in indie style. He also does his How he produces how he and he gets the movie out as well. It's all done in the style It's not a case of he has all this money and has he has he goes and sells it to studios He didn't confirm that the trilogy was going to happen until he had the fun to forest and And I know he's basically the trilogy's I think the majority of the children's already being filmed because the film stuff next to the Nightingale Center that wasn't used in any of the movie for this one So again, I'm thinking exactly used for the few like the other two because the next one comes out in January And that's needed a cost is doing that one which I think's really brave of them to be able to hand over not only to another director But to a director as well take the reins go off and do kind of thing The first two were shot back to back. It was the third one that was in doubt that he didn't have the funding for But obviously has the funding but yeah, yeah, that's well wondering and only thing Again, what I want to talk about as well, which I thought was an absolute masterpiece of like showcase and how the world works Because as I said earlier, the way this is now the UK is in full isolation How we basically as I said, the time has stopped in the 90s and hasn't progressed.

It's just basically there. The rest of the world has been going on And it's kind of showcased where we get the Icelandic soldier that comes in and he's talking to this kid about things that we would think Was normal or have like day-to-day conversations and it like for poor spike this must have been some of the most backshippers are Conversations, it's like you talk about the internet you're talking about what's this black thing? Why is it? It's like the square to form Why what's the internet?

What's what's deliveries? And it's just mind blowing like everything that you take for granted now And you thought and again rightly or wrongly I thought the whole world would have been the same like the only thing but putting the UK Back just by Iceland is a scary thought so that actually happened Can I just confirm was it the whole of the UK that was isolated because we the ones out the virus has broke out from us The world just went right will shut them out. So it's the whole of the UK that's been shut out. Okay So the attack that happened in Paris is obviously yeah, they basically miss old Paris is no more So they stop the rage virus there that's it get any further and they basically NATO have isolated the UK They have like a roving like ships going around.

Yeah, I just I wasn't I couldn't I wasn't usually where and I couldn't remember it was just one of those details I kind of slipped my mind, but it just reminded me so much of the Marshall's doomsday Yeah, when the when the you know this outbreak happens and they literally lowered the border to the northeast and how and we just completely isolate It's like oh once again nothing's got cut off That was too real that mind that was so that that movie because it was just far too fucking real I was like oh god that would happen as well in your right ball Why would we know we're not exactly the biggest island? It would be very easy to quarantine us completely from the world yeah And it was such an interesting like kind of like almost like a I know we don't talk about putting all the stuff mostly But it was kind of like a political clap at and like sin this is if we do want to pull out finger out and make start Kind of moving forward with the times and stuff this could actually fucking happen to us as well Yeah, that was bad with thinking and then our souls in charge. Sorry. I think Sarah's Hit the nail on the head about as much as we deserve right now But yeah, it's it's such an interesting place because there's so many different layers of so many different things you can take from this This is why when you have conversations with people people say honest in like the movie It's like well, I can understand not enjoying certain aspects But there's so much different things you can get from this movie.

It's as you said, it's yes It's a horror movie But it's again, it could be a political satire could be and as I said a love story between like say a son and his mother and again Grieving and almost like stable magnolia sometimes like the going through all the different stages of like Refusing to be a city except the inevitable but then trying to change it and in a world where in a world But when these things where if they could be treated are not possible now Because hospitals have gone doctors are a thing of the past which is scary as fuck. It's terrifying The that's that whole scene though between then three was so much so much more than just him Him given a diagnosis. We knew she had cancer. Yeah, we I think I think From the minute you say yeah, it's clearly something is metastasized and it's getting worse and worse and worse and it's you know She's not she's completely isolated on this island.

We don't know what their health care system is. It's probably not a fucking existence That Bandages probably as far as they'll get with the medication wise. It's just so it's so much deeper than it's I don't know It's so hard to explain I have and I think I found this more this year than ever that I have such a deep connection with movies that handle grief I think I spoke about this before there's so many films I've seen this year that and how people handle grief and I have such Such a moment with it because you don't I don't think you realize when you've dealt with grief in a way for yourself It's so long and then you see someone else's way of it. It's just I don't know I'm talking shit.

I know I am I find it shit It's how you relate and you find things that but I'm finding it more this year than ever And on So It's people in different stages, but I think this especially as I know it's quite apt But I think this movie hit the nail that like what we needed this year for like storytelling like we are having Such a great year when it comes to like say not just horror movies But movies in general where people are pushing boundaries people are trying different things and it's becoming because people have been crying out for years Or Hollywood's just remaking the same old stuff. They're not trying new things. They're not trying new stories But they are you just have to go out and find it like some some watch to a movie on Saturday night I don't think she's still is still trying to confirm it like Jordan Peele's him That is the most crazy back shit film you would see weapons is one of the cleverer songs And not forget like sinners is one of the most original that I've seen in decades It blows my mind that that was the that's that happened this year because how much has come out him is I still I tried to talk it out before and I was like, I can't really like put it out. It's so it's so weird, but it's not a bad way It's just it's so different.

I think we're especially with 28 years later. They could have just done a love letter to the franchise and the fans They were brave and this the went out this movie was so many different complex towards complex conversations Difficult conversations that a lot people don't like to have and they started the fucking movie with telly two is and finished up with Ginny What more can you like ask? You can even say that about a movie is crazy like it starts with telling to be in an ends with Jimmy's level Literally songs up the film It's so wild. Yes.

I'm excited to see where this is I really am I'm gonna be there on the January 26th. I'm gonna be there I love that as well. How long has it been since we've talked about future movies on movies that we're seeing and we'll get next I did about it and all probably the last time we were getting this kind of buzz was when end game came out because we're nerds I'm in love and it will marvel and we had ten years of build up to get to the get the climax that we got and now it's kind of like Creativities poking up people now and see and look this is what we're trying to do. This is what different and again It's just filming is telling different stories of being brave and saying right the public's been asking for it Let's see what they can give it and get look at different TV shows like Dexter Resurrection and as an example being brave enough to go okay We're gonna release this character that is known and loved do a different slant and fucking kneeling at the same time It's again people have been crying out for this and people don't quote the cinemas to see these things Maybe studios aren't gonna be bothering.

That's that's no There's such a huge debate on at the moment and across social media about a cinema etiquette And how much it's gone out the window and how people are really deterred from not going to the cinema because of it and how It's they almost it's almost like an argument They can't win because you can't country you can't you have no control over that person and the cinema doesn't seem to give a shit I got your fucking money. Why did they not care about what's happening inside? It's such a huge topic point at the moment about cinema etiquette If you get a chance to go and watch a film the Paul do it take it regardless of What is because it is a fucking treat watching that man watch a movie it is it's hilarious It's actually heartwarming how we can actually eat if it gets everything I think it's not etiquette Not be out the window in Paul's case because he's not paying attention to anything else other than what's in front of them That's that's why it's like the magic But I'm sitting type of situation we went to the theater this week saying inside number nine and nothing I don't know what about it because again, it is just a treat but it's If you want to see masters of telling a story or masters of keeping you on tender hooks That is basically the epitome of storytelling that I've experienced There was a moment where they were going through the story and you're laughing you're dropping along with the characters and There's a lightning change and the mood changes and the and the theater goes deathly silent Not that's like you get the cusp and it's death be silent And it's again that will steer with me for the rest of my life just for that magical moment And again, that's what we need more now because um going back to like sinners like that moment in time when we go through the music That is a moment that when you're in a cinema You just like looking around going and I explain to this as well again similar to this movie as well When the moment you get the realization what's gonna be happening to his mom Of course character you feel a sadness will calm as well because then it's a moment and it's these kind of moments that we are dying to Keep experience. Yeah, it's such an experience and one that you you don't know how to you don't know how to handle it And I will most definitely go to the pictures to see this with you beggar and but I must warn you I'm a hater So Paul might Paul might you know get you know, he keeps himself.

He can keep you sons from I don't want to ask you if anything happens I just okay I lash out and she tries the pop contract on here as well back up careful Just What's lyrical about the movie I'm gonna ask the uncomfortable question as well anything you didn't like about the movie yes They didn't necessarily think We got enough scenes on Holy Island I think they could have done a little bit more there Sharing the community and us getting to see a little bit more between obviously went spike and the mama left And when we get back to the island I would have liked to have just seen a little bit more of the dad's reaction and why he didn't leave the island of things like that But it's one of those ones that you could take it on either Yeah, I agree agree that because you wanted to care about that community you want to give it down So give us more to hear more about it that would have been more interesting and again You're right you're saying how his reactions for most things were but I know there is strict rules that want you Know you can't know what if you're selling your fucking wife you would you would you would forget that I I don't know if this is 10 years of walking dead fatigue But I could not give to shit tell that community runs because I have seen it a hundred million times in every other community They fucking walk and dead was in so I just assumed it worked like that So I can but I've never sounded to a degree a storytelling is kind of world building It would have been great to know a little bit more of the ins and outs and but yeah, I think it might be just me personally I'm sick of singing that kind of stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, but I understand from the dad I don't understand the dad's perspective actually you are right I don't understand why he he gives such a shit when he realizes he's not coming back But didn't give a shit enough to actually go and look for him in the first place Yeah, like I don't get that because if my tiny human what I want a big old adventure.

I'd be I'd be looking for a You know, I wouldn't stop like I mean Over the world. Yeah, I don't think you've got any worries about your tiny human For probably my complete only complaint is was again It was done intentionally was the the clips and they didn't that was when it was cutting in showing you the like The boots boots don't it too intense no, but they're doing too intense So it kind of took you out of the movie but again I know it's intentionally to make you feel all that you get your chest getting tighter and you're sitting in your chair And you're not like it doesn't want you relax But I think it was just a touch too harsh where it kind of like took you out of the movie at the same time Because you don't you never want to be taken out of the movie you want to still be there, but I think But that's probably maybe a little bit hypercritical like a bit too much But yeah, that would be my only I couldn't I Honestly on the splash can't think of anything that I did not like about this movie and I Really I can't I don't know. There's nothing that I could say. Oh, I just didn't like that And every part of it felt like it was you know fitting into another piece and I love the idea And possibly because I'd spent so much time in that world on that day that it just felt natural So once just commented in the chat say the guy attaching the hard head shot and shot me on a whole end was the best bit that Me have been in so I might have actually got a cast member in the chat Okay, you've waited until an hour in you've been here the entire time and you've waited until an hour in to drop that bomb Bravo sir, because I would have said that as soon as I come on Oh Films where again if you're in it or you're around it will probably be the experience of a time But it's like Again, it's probably some of these excitement if she was an extra in game of thrones or something like that Hey, I was an extra in back to grow off so you know like long dream like long dream lived out there Behind the pennies behind us And I was the leather worker for them to oh my goodness in nor because I know I am You should know do you know them because I know if you infa see what the influences have done the tour You can actually do the 28 years near to where they'll take you to haul your item.

They'll take you for cocktails Now we're gonna get cocktails from there Bring cookies she will bring Well something The idea of the fact that it's on our doorstep and like we could literally just go out and and I did love seeing all the people going to These spots and it's like oh shit. Yeah, how many times have I passed that fucking you would love the graveyard there? She was walking around going yeah This is this is a whole semi-vide and obviously I was I was I was talking with the tiny one she was doing the same thing as what you would do when we went to the I'm not she was looking at that she was getting me to read up because the I'm obviously what was on the what was on the graveyard? I was like I was so proud when you told me that because I was like I'm not the only one yeah when we went round the graveyard And who did we go and see?

Yes Sarah would be screaming at us right now Yeah, I can't do and but we I was telling them that you know the whole maybe as morbid as I am you die You can technically die twice first time your physical body And then the second time is when the last person sees you in for the last time ever So I made a point of every grave that we walk past that I could see of seeing any of it must have gotten right on Pickering service Oh my god, this is like us in work. We're living part of cocoa Disney where yeah, yeah Yeah After all gone to keep seeing any of that stop dying I'm on your stream so it's fine As I can you do one of those videos out Oh my god, that Emily Davis said that you've requested Mark Okay, I don't think that was any Was it not Pat? No, I don't know I don't know I don't know but no it was Puckers. Yes.

That's like that's her from down south That's who I thought I was going to see It wasn't it was a good deal. We had a fun time in the century and Sorry, Jess is replying. I was lucky to work on the two of them nice to work in Newcastle to get into court It was a belt there was a belt there was a gesso was a better. Oh, that's no, that is absolutely fantastic.

Oh god Forever bring that up Oh my god, um, I was the two people who star in that movie one was in my actual drama class Chris lovely lovely guy other one We never hold a good to be something Not really not kind of and Sorry, it is blowing my mind that we actually had somebody in the chat who was actually honored And we've just and he just blows he just drops that in at the last second. That's fine It's fine. It was enjoying. I was sorry.

Oh, well, that is you know what it is not actually that's so lovely that you didn't just like I would have if it was me I'd have been straight and well guys guess what did you know? I'm you stood next to the Ruby step is that went to 30 million? Yes, sorry and we didn't go and see punk us. No, we did not And yeah, I I thoroughly enjoyed this movie I cannot wait to see what needed to cost a dose with the next one and and that will just being in that environment being around the The bone temple and and how beautiful did he make them skulls look?

Yeah, I'm white and beautiful I'm not gonna lie. I loved every aspect of it. Now would genuinely make a bone temple if I could who's going to score would be on the top I Ask As we said this movie could have been again, I think a lot of people were expecting different things when I came to it But what we got was a lot more and I'm glad we got that and again if the trilogy continues on this level of this Like and that sounds really this humanity side, which I'm quite loving and quite thing. It's not just out out Tara I think yeah, the next one again the rage virus victims aren't gonna be the scary things It's gonna be man.

That's gonna be the more scary again I'm intrigued but scared at the same time because it's with a beautiful temple like the Jimmy's and the Ralph Eins character I was at interaction gonna go down The trailer because I've actually looked at the trailer now because obviously now I guess you know what's going on the trailer looks amazing You see the set was absolutely incredible and it's one hell of a ride I love the fact that he's been sat in that chat the whole night Yeah, exactly. Thank you so much for joining and listening to our talk and how we felt about it and and dropping that bombshell at the end That was brilliant.
