Starting as a Marketing Department employee at Wendy's International, he ventured into hospital administration at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Following a move to California, he embraced the role of Customer Service Manager at an academic publishing company in Santa Barbara.However, Terry's life took a dramatic turn when he transitioned to becoming a police officer with the Cincinnati Police Department, where he served as a SWAT Hostage Negotiator. Later on, he found himself embarking on a new path as a school security consultant and high school girls' basketball coach after relocating to Texas.Throughout Terry's journey, each career shift presented new challenges and demanded the development of fresh skills. But the greatest challenge he faced came in 2012 when he was diagnosed with Acral Lentiginous Melanoma, an uncommon form of cancer. Despite its rarity, Terry sought treatment at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, undergoing surgeries to remove tumors and enduring years of weekly injections to prevent a recurrence. The Interferon injections took a toll on Terry's body, causing severe flu-like symptoms, weight loss, constant nausea, and fatigue. Despite enduring over 1,660 days of misery, Terry made a conscious choice to embrace his pain and use it as a catalyst for personal growth. His experience taught him that overcoming adversity required mental fortitude and unwavering determination. In his book, "Sustainable Excellence: Ten Principles to Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life," Terry shares his wisdom and empowers others to discover their own extraordinary purpose.
