The legislation seeks to cut federal housing rules, slim-down environmental reviews, make it faster to build homes and limit the ability of corporations to buy single-family homes.The housing bill passed the Senate by a vote of 85-5 and the House approved it with a vote of 358-32. However, President Trump surprised his party by refusing to sign the bill and called it "a yawn" and "so unimportant" compared to the Save America Act which doesn't have enough Republican Support to pass. The President has also said that affordability is a "fake word", "it's all about the interest rate" and "lower the interest rates, you can have all the housing you want."
