Is Forgiveness Possible?

from Your Amazing Life! · host Ken Gerber

Thank you for joining me today for “Creating Your Amazing Life”. Please reach down and hit the “Subscribe” button. I'm glad that you are joining me for episode number 69. It can feel impossible. I mean so many of us have been abused or assaulted, mistreated, or misused. It is easy to say “Ken I can’t let that go, I have to hold them responsible! Or maybe even I have to hold myself responsible.”  I mean many of us have gone through truly horrific and traumatic things. How can I forgive those? I get that those things do happen and I am not making light of the experiences you have suffered. They have been great. They have been horrific. But the question that I am asking is are you ready to move on from the suffering? You might not even believe that it is possible to move on. There are stories of people moving on from things like yours and no longer suffering. So if they can move past the suffering so can you. The continued suffering comes because of the ego that we talked about yesterday. We keep ourselves in the suffering oftentimes as a penance. We see ourselves as broken, screwed up, or unworthy. Most of the times we base that on the things that happen to us. But the fact of the matter is you are not Broken. You are not Screwed UP. You are not Unworthy. The cost of not forgiving is the cost of your future. There are so many things that I had to learn to forgive. Sexual abuse, Bullied and misused. Those happened in my life. I had the option to hold on to those and not forgive others or myself and remain miserable or to learn the tools that allow forgiveness into my life, This way I could let Karma take care of all the things that happened and let go of that bloody dripping bag of all the trauma horrifying things that went on in my life. Hear me clearly I am not saying you have to forgive I’m not saying that it is okay to mistreat others. I’m saying it is possible to stop the suffering. To let go of that oozing, dripping, bloody bag of traumatic and horrifying experiences. Holding onto that bag doesn’t serve you or anyone else. It hurts you more than anyone. How do I know because you are listening to this. You are here because there is a small voice in your head that says “This life could be happier or better.” That voice is correct. There are tools that Not only I have used but thousands of others have used them also to overcome all kinds of abuse. There are five steps to forgiveness: Acknowledge the wrongdoing Identify your feelings Get proper perspective Set proper boundaries Commit to yourself to do whatever is needed to feel better Now I want to let you know how much I appreciate each of you spending your time with me today. I think of you each day. I get you. You are a big part of my life and I’m glad you are here. If this message has been helpful please share it with a friend.
