Is homelessness an addiction

Historically, homelessness was primarily driven by poverty, and those individuals typically seek to escape life on the streets. Today, however, a significant portion of the homeless population consists of individuals struggling with drug addiction. They often resort to panhandling and theft to fund their substance abuse, showing little desire for traditional food or housing assistance because they choose to maintain this lifestyle. Addressing this complex issue remains a critical challenge.
