This year’s nominees have arrived not with excitement and elation, but with vitriol and controversy. For the 2nd year in a row, not a single actor of color was nominated for an acting award. But is that because of blatant racism, like many involved with the #OscarsSoWhite movement claim, or is it simply because those were the best performances of the year?
