Is Living With Regret A Good Thing?

from Online Torah Classes with Rabbi Mendy Goldberg · host Rabbi Mendy Goldberg

VAYIKRA Is living with regret a good thing? Many will tell you things like ‘regret nothing’ or ‘never look back’ but is that a healthy attitude to past mistakes? On the flip side, we all know that person who’s never been able to move past that professional blunder or a faux pas several years ago, and they seem to wallow in never-ending misery and agony. So, what is a healthy approach to handling mistakes? Somewhere in between those two extremes. In this week’s Parsha we open the lengthy description of korbanos; who must bring what animal for what korban. Variables, including the cause, the financial status of the person, their gender, age and other things all contribute to determining what sacrifice they are obligated to offer. Interestingly, the only korban from a female goat is the chatas- sin offering. Whereas the similar asham, guilt offering and virtually all others, come from male animals.
