Is Masterworks a SCAM?

The company has invested heavily in spreading its company with YouTubers such as Andrei Jikh, Spencer Cornelia, Mr. Beat, Meet Kevin among so many others. Masterworks claims contemporary artwork has outpaced the SP500 in the past. I am a little skeptical on their business model.
