Is MySpace Making a Comeback? Nostalgia, Free Speech & the Crowded Social Media Field

In this episode of Nicky’s World, host Nicky digs into the recent news that MySpace is planning a comeback. The platform’s current owners, brothers Chris and Tim Vanderhook, confirmed in a new documentary that they intend to relaunch the once-dominant early-2000s social network, saying they’re simply “waiting for the right time.” Nicky, who had her own MySpace page back in 2003, talks about the nostalgia many people feel for that era — Top 8 friends, profile songs, customizable pages, HTML coding, and a freer, less toxic online culture. She contrasts those days with today’s social media landscape, where saying the wrong thing can get you harassed, doxxed, deplatformed, or canceled, and shares her own experience of being removed from Facebook. She also looks at the competition MySpace would face from platforms like MeWe and Minds, and argues that more choices are a good thing in a free market. Will a return to chronological feeds and personal expression fill a real need in 2026, or is the moment gone? Straight talk on what social media used to feel like, what’s broken now, and whether bringing the old school back is even possible.   Source: Confirms the relaunch plans and notes growing frustration with algorithm-driven platforms. https://thepostmillennial.com/myspace-owners-vow-to-revive-millennial-social-media-platform Could Myspace come back?
