One of Ozzie Newsome’s precious credos on draft day has always been, “best player available”. His argument has always been that even if you draft a player that isn’t a need position, some day that position WILL become a need. The classic example is their 2001 first round pick Todd Heap who was selected despite the presence of Shannon Sharpe. The approach certainly has merit. Take the best player on the board.
