Is Pharmacology Difficult Podcast DRUG (Definition & About)

from IS PHARMACOLOGY DIFFICULT®️ Podcast · host Dr Radhika Vijay

Welcome all to IS PHARMACOLOGY DIFFICULT Podcast ! I am Dr Radhika Vijay, in today's episode I will be answering questions as to What is a drug? How do you define a drug and whether it is same as medicine? Medicines have always been a close companion of man from birth till death.Purpose of medicine is to provide relief and comfort to man. Drug is derived from french term. Broadly speaking, it is a chemical substance which affects living systems . used to prevent, diagnose or cure a disease. But such a definition is not satisfactory. WHO defines it very nicely and completely as "Any substance or product which is used or intended to be used to modify or explore physiological systems or pathological states for the benefit of recipient." Safe , sound and complete knowledge of all the different drug aspects is highly advised and recommended. Finishing with furnished drug details and fine explanations, I will be laying next topics' foundation by telling the importance of knowing  the different divisions/ subdivisions/ branches of pharmacology.
