Is the Expanded Universe IMPORTANT...?

The Star Wars Expanded Universe, known as "Legends" after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, played a pivotal role in sustaining the fervor for Star Wars during periods when movies were absent. Through novels, comics, video games, and more, it extended the saga beyond the original trilogy, continuing the adventures of iconic characters like Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. It introduced new characters, worlds, and species, enriching the galaxy's tapestry and fostering deep fan engagement. By exploring the backstories of figures like Darth Vader and Boba Fett, it added depth to the beloved villains and antiheroes. Bridging gaps between films, it provided context and history while cultivating a sense of nostalgia. Although the Expanded Universe was later deemed non-canon, its enduring impact resonates in the new media, underscoring the enduring power of the Star Wars universe.
