Is There a Concept of Superheroes in Judaism? (S1, E46)
from Judaism in the 21st Century · host Steven Labkoff, MD & Rabbi Daniel Cohen
Superheroes have been a pervasive part of our modern society since the late 1930s. Interestingly enough, most of the authors of the superhero titles we all know and love were Jews - Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster (Superman), Bob Kane and Bill Finger (Batman), Wil Eisner (the Spirit) Joe Kubert (Sgt. Rock), Jack Kirby and Joe Simon (Captain America) Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (the Hulk, Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men and many more). However, there really is no concept of a "Super Hero" in our religion. Today we discuss Superheroes and Judaism on the podcast.
